About being not very objective concerning money left in the John...

You might leave lot's of things in the John. We need not go into detail. But the other day someone found a wad of money in the Argentine Economic Minister's special bathroom. As you can well imagine, that stirred up a hornet's nest, although perhaps that expression is not the most apt. Anyway, somebody will likely get stung.

Felisa Miceli was quick enough to point out that the bundle of around $100,000 (more or less according to the source,. Clarín, Página 12, La Nación, Pérfil, the police...) was due to a real estate deal that fell through. Still, one might ask what in the world does buying real estate have to do with dealing with the country's economic woes?

Ah. A more pertinent question, as expressed buy lawyer Miguel Bootello, who has asked that the case be investigated for possible funny business (to use a popular but not very legal term): "in view of the fact that there are two safe boxes in the office why did the minister leave the money in the bathroom?"

Indeed a rather nice question. I mean, the bathroom is not generally considered the appropriate place to keep money. Of course, maybe it was taken there on a sort of urgency and then left when more important economic matters appeared on the daily agenda.

And then: can you imagine the faces of the firemen who were alerted by someone who apparently thought the little (well, no so little) bundle might have been a bomb or something....

Forgive our jolly tone. Anyone can make mistakes. Even public officers. They can also be the subject of complex political manoevres. But the the fact itself is ripe enough for this tongue-in-cheek comment, don't you think?
