The dance of lingering nothingness

A sleek, hot arm, circling,

                 stops.

the nervous, aimlessly twitching legs,

                collapse.

the hoarse, whimpering breath,

                relaxes.

the heart beats on while the heated expanding glands

               contract.

Silence intrudes: a flickering, dying, flamesless whispering soundless presence

               remains.

A volcano erupts. A river floods. A gaping abyss opens on a still soft plain

              only sweet nothingness lingers on.
